Creator and founder of Start Animating
Eon de Bruin, hailing from South Africa, has always been passionate about storytelling and animation. As a child, he spent countless hours creating comic books, dreaming of becoming an animator. But in a pre-internet world, with animation requiring study opportunities far beyond his reach, that dream seemed impossible and faded over time.
Years later, in 2016, an online advertisement for animation software reignited his childhood dream. Eon dived in, learned the tools of the trade, and completed his first project—a music video in 2017 that won Best Kids Music Video at the Afri-Indie Music Awards in South Africa.
Driven by this success, Eon ventured into creating his first animated series, Superheld 101. The series’ debut episode in 2019 earned first prize at the Reallusion Animation@Works contest. Over the years, his animations have won additional awards, showcasing his dedication to the craft.
As Eon honed his skills, he recognized the challenges new animators face. This inspired him to launch Start Animating, a YouTube channel and educational platform aimed at guiding aspiring animators. Through videos, online courses, and coaching, he has helped countless beginners avoid common pitfalls and fast-track their creative journeys.
Today, Eon is the founder of Tween Xstream, a Christian streaming platform where he writes, produces, and animates original shows. Having designed a multitude of characters throughout his career, he brings his experience and passion for animation to this workbook, helping others bring their creative visions to life.
